El golf volvió a poner a Los Cabos en el mapa mundial con la edición 19 del World Wide Technology Championship 2025, celebrada del 3 al 9 de noviembre en El Cardonal at Diamante, el campo diseñado por Tiger Woods que ha redefinido el nivel competitivo y escénico del golf en México.
Ben Griffin, de 29 años, se consagró campeón tras una ronda final espectacular de 63 golpes (-9) para cerrar con un total de 259 (-29), estableciendo un nuevo récord de 72 hoyos en la historia del torneo —superando la marca previa de -27 de Erik van Rooyen (2023)—. En su camino a la victoria, Griffin registró 30 birdies, un águila y solo tres bogeys, logrando así su tercera victoria en el PGA TOUR y confirmando su madurez competitiva en su torneo número 106 dentro del circuito.
El público mexicano también tuvo motivo de orgullo con la destacada actuación de Alejandro Madariaga, quien obtuvo la medalla al Mejor Mexicano del Field. En su debut en el PGA TOUR, cerró con un sólido total de 274 golpes (-14), empatando el puesto 46 con rondas de 68-68-67. Madariaga, originario de Guadalajara, llegó al torneo tras ganar el México Match Play disputado en octubre en el mismo campo de Diamante, reafirmando el crecimiento del golf profesional mexicano.
